Total 360 Karate Blog August 2026- Why Total 360 Karate
Welcome to the August of 2026 blog of Total 360 Karate. Total 360 Karate started in 2011 after Sensei Rodgers received his black belt. Sensei Rodgers knew he wanted to teach, but he wanted to modernize the system of Karate so it could sustain and continue. Total 360 Karate was redefined in 2012, when it started in Chandler, Arizona. This is where modern applications began.
Total 360 Karate follows the lineage of Chito Ryu Karate as taught by Dr. Chitose. Chito Ryu Karate is one of the oldest lines of traditional Karate in Japan. This style incorporates Okinawan traditional Karate. As Karate moved to Japan, it became formalized and was a mainstay of Japan. It was the self-defense method for the entire country during World War 2.
Chito Ryu Karate moved to the United States under Hanshi Domenitrich. This was the way when Sensei’s would teach military personnel in Japan. Karate had a
large run in the United States during 70’s and 80’s but began to fade over time. The legacy, traditions, and values began to fade. Total 360 Karate wanted to keep those values and traditions and instituted a school based on tradition with modernized fitness applications. Other martial arts like Taekwondo, Kung Fu, Mixed martial arts, and Judo all began pulling attention to themselves. The United States version of Karate began to commercialize with tournaments, participation trophies, and other business applications that did not uphold the original intent of Karate.
Total 360 Karate is unique in that it is a base art for all sports. We have students
who take Karate to learn how to exercise and move on to other sports. Total 360 Karate focuses on the core and developing mobility while building muscle. The modern techniques of personal training from NFPT and NASM, Advanced Yoga, and Functional training help students be successful in any sport.
Total 360 Karate teaches the traditions of respect, honor, integrity, and hard work. Total 360 Karate is not a giveaway studio. You have to earn your belt from our studio. Every one of our black belts has spent at least 5 years training before their black belt test.
If you want a studio where you will learn how to exercise, discipline, hard work, and what it means to lead, then Total 360 Karate is for you. Total 360 Karate supports our students with Google Classroom, YouTube, and social media, showing the modern applications with the traditional values and legacy. Total 360 Karate allows beginner, intermediate, advanced, and black belt level classes to meet students where they are in their journey. Come join us on Mondays, Fridays, or Saturdays. Hajime
