Black belt class for Total 360 Karate

For those who don’t know, Total 360 began as a fitness, self-defense, and police tactics class in 2005.  It was designed to push the limits of fitness and to learn how to apply police tactics and protect yourself. The original students were a mix of police officers, martial artists, and women.   Renowned as one of the best fitness groups in Savannah, it was brutal but pushed the limits.

Since then, Sensei Rodgers has continued his pursuit of fitness through 30 certifications in personal training, yoga, martial arts, and cardio.  Sensei Rodgers has designed workouts that keep him training well into his wiser years.  These workouts push cardio limits and sharpen the body and mind.  Starting in 2006, Sensei Rodgers created what he called the black belt workout.  This has occurred once a week since 2006 and has reframed the incorporation of fitness and martial arts.

Often, I heard that other Senseis only tell students what to do; they don’t actually do the workout or anything similar. This is a travesty, because to lead, you have to be able to show.  In 2026, Sensei Rodgers decided to open up to the general public and any students and show what he does for his own workouts.  Over the last year, my workouts were added to the Google Classroom to show students what I am doing.  In early 2026, I decided to open my workouts to anyone who wanted to try them.   The black belt workouts are harder than any classes that we have registered with Prescott Valley.   All of the classes are designed are done before class.

This is the Black belt workout students see when they come for class at 8 am.  Our black belt workout starts at 7 am.   It’s the workout of the week for Sensei, using martial arts, katas, fitness, cardio, and whatever else Sensei creates.  This class is advanced.  You don’t have to be a martial artist to take this class.  If you want to get in shape and push yourself, this class is for you.  Sensei Rodgers has always been about giving back to the community. Rather than add another class for the City of Prescott Valley, Sensei Rodgers decided the black belt class would be free, and anyone can join him for the workouts.  We have several black belts that have participated in the workouts.  Several people are using the black belt workouts to prepare themselves for fitness tests to get into professions.

The workouts are based on what Sensei is feeling, what is missing, exercises to increase longevity, base, core, and other concepts.  In these classes, you will see strength training, functional training, CrossFit, cardio, martial arts, and more other modalities that are commonly used to shape the body.  These classes are 55 minutes long and are at the Boys and Girls Club at 7 am in Prescott Valley.   Do you have the heart of a black belt to make it through a workout?  Classes are free; what’s your excuse?
