Chito Ryu karate was created by Dr. Tsuyoshi Chitose, who came from Okinawa. This area is known as the cradle and birthplace of karate. From 1922-1932 Dr. Chitose trained with Master Funakoshi (the founder of karate) in Japan. Working together to develop a program that could be used by the country of Japan as a whole.

Chito Ryu karate became the official karate of Japan in 1948. As World War II United States soldiers were deployed to Japan they began to learn karate.

During this time, Master William Domenitrich was stationed in Japan and began learning Chito Ryu karate under Dr. Chitose. Master Domenitrich returned to the United States after his military service and brought Chito Ryu karate with him.

Master Domenitrich established the US home for Chito Ryu karate in 03011961 in Covington Kentucky. Master Domenitrich began to train students and pass on the knowledge that he had learned.

The art was passed down from these students to the next generation to include Sensei Bunting and Sensei Fleetwood both trained under Master Domenitrich. Both Sensei Fleetwood and Sensei Bunting went to Savannah Georgia and began teaching karate.

A young student by the name of Sensei Carpenter began to learn Chito Ryu and continued the traditions of Chito Ryu in the Savannah. This is a classic example of Chito Ryu karate is taught and passed down through generations.
