Hustle has no age limit.

Karate began as a hidden art designed to be learned through farming as a way to protect the village without weapons against countries that would try to take over the area.  Karate was taught as a way of life.  The desire to learn Karate came directly from the idea that it was a necessity for survival.  Kids learned at a very young age and spent hours a day perfecting each moment.

This transitioned into what we might call the modern hustle.  While students will not spend hours a day working on Karate, they still have the power and option to devote time to the craft consistently.  Karate has no age limit. Even in our dojo, we have students aged five and as old as seventy.  It’s not about age; it’s about putting in the work to be better at the craft.  Hustle has no age limit.

The student who doesn’t let weather, time, sickness, or other things get in the way of finding a way to practice is a student who will not have to worry when Karate has to be used.  Hustle has no age limit.  I have seen some of our senior students, both in belt and age, come to class an hour before class to practice.  They have learned that Hustle has no age limit.

You see the Sensei filming videos in the snow or rain, because hustle has no age limit.  Blogs, newsletters, and classes are created at 3 am because hustle has no age limit.  To be better than we were yesterday, we have to be willing to go further than we have gone before.

Take American sport baseball, Derrick Jeter, was never the greatest hitter, most powerful, or most loved, but he was never out hustled.  He dove over walls, received cuts to his face, and continued to diligently put in the work every day.  His efforts paid off in being one of the first ballot hall of famers.

In Total 360 Karate, only 1 out of 100 students will make it to black belt.  Most students don’t have the hustle for a long time to fight through the hard times.  Some of the students realize I need to start as a white belt and learn that hustle has no age limit.  Ultimately, it is up to you to decided you work ethic.  

Tomorrow's dreams are chased by what we do today, when Hustle has no age limit.  Age doesn’t matter with regard to hustle.  How hard are you willing to work?
