What is the purpose of this kata? 
This is the first and very basic Kata under Chito Ryu karate. There are no turns, and there is only one stance. One needs to concentrate on the punches, blocks and grabs to learn a basic foundation for karate. 
What is the stance?

The key stance is the solid Yao stance

Angles of attack-all four directions

Repeated movements- each odd has an even in this kata.
What is the key movement There is no specific key move they total of 27 movements

Suminach- feet together arms to your seam of pants
Yao- ensure feet or railroaded or parallel. Hands up over the head. Left hand in the blade and right fist behind it, come down in front of the face to triangle position near the stomach. Simultaneously take left foot in stork position and come down just outside of shoulder-length apart. The stork part is not necessary, but it will help in reminding how far apart the feet should be. 

1. Upper block left- the arm must go straight across and up the entire head, at an angle. You should be able to see the bone of the forearm if you look up. Do not let your arm rotate over to expose the muscle area. You want the strike to be absorbed by the muscle, not the bone. 
2. Upper block right- the arm must go straight up and across the entire head, at an angle
3. Outside/inside left block- must touch the ear before the movement, come across the chest. This must be the ear the block is coming from and must be below the face and chin so you can see your opponent.
4. Outside/inside right block- must touch the ear before movement, come across the chest
5. Inside/outside left block come across belt perpendicular and then rotate left and up across the chest
6. Inside/outside right block come across the belt perpendicular and then rotate left and up across the chest
7. Down block left -must touch the opposite ear before the block and come down 45 degrees across the chest.
8. Down block right-must touch the opposite ear before the block
9. Punch left to the face with a KIAI, be able to look down the knuckles
10. Punch right to the face with a KIAI, be able to look down the knuckles
11. Grab foot right side turn head to the right, hands must be in clinching or fist form
12. Grab foot left side turn head same direction to the left both hands must be in fist form
13. Elbow strike to the back with left elbow and punch over right shoulder look in that direction
14. Elbow strike to the back with right elbow and punch over the left shoulder look in that direction
15. Elbow strike to chin left slightly rotate the hips, not the feet as the strike should be close to the center to reach the chin.
16. Elbow strike to chin right slightly rotate the hips, not the feet. 
17. Inside sutose left arm across the body in a 90 degree to 180 degrees out in front perpendicular flat triangle in front of your chin, striking to the neck area. 
18. Inside sutose right arm comes across the body in a 90 degree to 180 degrees out in front perpendicular flat triangle in front of your chin.
19. Spear hand to the eyes left all fingers straight, and hand is slightly cupped, be able to look down the knuckles with a KIAI.
20. Spear hand to the eyes right, all fingers straight and hand is slightly cupped, be able to look down the knuckles with a KIAI.
21. Elbow strike perpendicular to the ground (like pulling a bow) to the left look left open right hand like you're grabbing a head.
22. Elbow comes across the chest to the right, occurring right in front of the head, and connects with the elbow. The strike should be to the bridge o the nose. 
23. Elbow strike perpendicular to the ground to the right look right open hand to the left grabbing a head
24. Elbow comes across the chest to the left and connects with the elbow.
25. Reinforced elbow strike to the left. The left elbow goes straight back, the right hand comes on top of the left fist, and the strike must go straight back.
26. Reinforced elbow strike to the right elbow goes straight back, the right hand comes on top of the right fist, and then the strike must go straight back. 
27. Grab gee with both hands, and head-butt opponent and a KIAI, do not bend over too far. 
Step ye men. - whichever foot is in front the opposite foot comes forward, and arms go up over the head and come down in a double block to the front down in front down the body.
